Dr Richard Abittan is a general surgeon based in Casablanca, specializing in digestive and endocrine surgery, with particular expertise in obesity surgery . He has been recognized as Morocco's leading obesity surgeon since 2000.
He has over 20 years' experience in world-renowned laparoscopic bariatric surgery, and regularly teaches his methods at the best bariatric centers in the United States as part of the ASMBS . He has performed over 2,500 bariatric surgical procedures.
Dr Abittan is a former Paris hospital intern who practiced in France for many years before settling in Casablanca in 1991. He holds degrees in general medicine and general surgery, and a diploma in laparoscopic surgery from the University of Strasbourg.
He is also a professor of visceral and general surgery, thyroid surgery, parathyroid surgery, parietal surgery (hernias, ventrations), laparoscopic surgery, cancrology, proctology (anal fistulas and fissures, hemorrhoids...) and pilonidal sinus (SPN).
